A Passion for Sailing
Hi, I’m Capt. Rod, and I’ve been sharing my love for sailing for over 30 years. My journey began when I started my first sailing charter business in San Diego at just 22 years old. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of introducing thousands of guests to the joy of being out on the water, surrounded by breathtaking views and great company.
The Evolution of Fun Cat Sailing
After 15 years running sailing charters in San Diego, I took a leap in 2001. I purchased my first large catamaran and set sail for Costa Rica, where I operated charters in Flamingo. That journey confirmed what I had always believed — catamarans provide a more enjoyable, comfortable, and stable ride compared to traditional single-hull boats. Returning to San Diego, I committed to providing high-quality catamaran sailing tours, ensuring every guest has a memorable, relaxing, and fun-filled tour.

Unlike large commercial tour companies, Fun Cat Sailing offers a more intimate and personalized experience. Our San Diego catamaran cruises have a laid-back, non-commercial atmosphere — no logos on the sails, no corporate branding, just the open sea and the freedom to unwind.
