Soon after you meet the friendly Captain of the “Tigress” for your San Diego boat tours, you step aboard the sailing catamaran for the first time. It’s big, rock solid stable, roomy, and easy to walk around on. It may be your first time sailing, or you may be a yacht club regatta champion, but with good winds blowing, you realize, “this is gonna be a lot of fun”.
Two large soft sunbathing trampolines await you, and in a flash you are lying on your belly watching the clear blue ocean water, rush under your new strange hammock. As you gaze down into the deep blue, the second magical moment of the day begins. Some sea-lions have come to say hello, swim and play with the boat.
After dozing off for a little nap on the trampolines forward, watching the beautiful white sails carving circles into the blue sky, you take a turn at the tiller to feel the power of the boat with your fingers.

Ryan had beverages on board, explained everything … More we needed to know in simple terms, then took us on what can only be described as the sports car of cstermarans, we were flying down the bay, yet the boat felt so stable and it was easy to stand up. What really added an even better experience was that Ryan really knew the and answer to every question we threw his way from Portuguese history in the area to what the naval base was up to and lots of landmarks. And his knowledge of sailing is immense. Can't wait to go again!

Somehow it was both exhilarating and relaxing. The boat can get into narrow and shallow places other boats can’t get into. You can see so much of the bay. The sunset was gorgeous. We saw dolphins and the historic Coronado hotel. The only thing I would’ve done differently is to bring a wind resistant layer, especially for February. Captain Ryan, who has his generational roots in San Diego, knew so much about all the landmarks, nature, and history of the area. He had answers in detail to every question I asked. I have been on other sailing trips even in this area, and this is one I look forward to returning to. If you’re looking for an immersive adventure where you can experience the natural beauty of the bay and the stunning city skyline, look no further. You won’t be disappointed!
